Well, the feedback was better than I expected, so on with the
show!!

Disclaimers etc. in part one

10:00am Monday morning:
Scully awoke with a headache and a vague feeling of nausea.
Somehow she knew that she would have to drag her protesting body
into work that day, but it was going to be an uphill battle.
She was more that annoyed when she arrived at work and saw
that her partner was nowhere to be found, even though she herself
was an hour late. Muttering to herself, Scully wondered where her
partner was. The way she felt, she would kill him when he got in.

4:00am Monday Morning:
Mulder's nose was stuffed up. It was so bad that he could
hardly breath. So bad that he figured that it was worth waking up
for to see why it felt so congested. Upon attempt to open his
eyes, Mulder saw that the problem wasn't limited to his nose. His
head never ached so badly. He was nauseous and the room swam as
he tried to sit up. His ribs felt sore.
Mulder tried to recall the events of the previous night. The
last thing he remembered was a blow to his head, and the
dashboard of the car racing up to meet him. He tentatively
inspected his head and found a sticky gash matted with bloody
hair where he had been struck. His nasal problems were a result
of his bleeding when he had banged it on the steering wheel. The
blood had trickled down to his shirt, forming a red pool along
that collar and shoulder where his head had been resting. "It was
a nice shirt too" Mulder thought with remorse.
Mulder tried to clear his head as he took a look around
himself. He was in a room with tiled walls and floor. A dim light
bulb cast a shadowy glow on the dingy room. A slightly open door
revealed a toilet. The air felt cold. "Basement," Mulder thought.
"I'm in a basement.
He searched for his cell phone, and found both it and
his FBI identification missing along with his wallet and his
watch.
A steep flight of stairs extended from the right side of
the room. Mulder stood up and decided to wait for the room to
stop spinning before he attempted to climb them. His first step
was shaky. He ascended slowly, clinging to the railing for
support. He reached the top and placed his hand on the waiting
doorknob. It was locked.
"Well, I really didn't expect it to be that easy" he
muttered.
Without warning, the door flew open, sending Mulder toppling
down the stairs. He blacked out momentarily and then regained
consciousness. He found himself staring at a pair of well worn
boots. One of those boots rose and roughly placed itself on
Mulder's chest, further knocking the wind out of him. Mulder
wheezed in response.
"Welcome to my humble abode" a scratchy voice said. "I
understand you're an FBI agent. My first. How much would the boys
at the bureau pay for one of their own, I wonder?"
"Boy did you pick the wrong agent!" Mulder thought with a
grin. His other thought was one of wonder. "This has nothing to
do with me, I'm just a random victim!" Mulder found it difficult
to believe that with all the times his life had been in danger,
he of all people would become a victim of a regular crook. "You'd
think that the powers that be would cut me some slack."
"Well we'll find out soon enough, won't we?" the voice
continued.
Having regained some air, Mulder strained to see who his
captor was.
Suddenly the foot resting on his chest lifted and crashed
into the soft part of his stomach. Two knees slammed down on his
chest and a mouth that smelled of cigarettes and alcohol was
brought to his ear.
"Be a good boy, now" it said.
A final kick was aimed at Mulder's head, sending stars careening
across his vision.

11:30am Monday
Skinner eyed the envelope sitting on his desk. It had been addressed
to "The Friends of Agent Mulder". After it was determined that it did not
contain a bomb, it was brought up to him.
Skinner sighed and opened the envelope. Written out of letters cut
from magazines was a note:
I have agent Mulder. Deliver a million dollars to the Lincoln
Monument at four o'clock tomorrow afternoon, or HE WILL DIE!
Skinner picked up his phone. "Get Agent Scully up here immediately" he said
tersely.
